Code of Conduct

You are a representative of your community. Others will look to you and follow your lead.

It is important to set a good example and remember; it is a matter of respect!

– Respect for all the participants of the event.

– Respect for the social and cultural values of youth from other communities.

– Respect for regulations and standards set down by the organizing body and host community.

– Respect for people of the host organization (staff, volunteers, guests, presenters, service personnel).

– Respect for the people and communities whose territory you are on.

Immediately report any concerns of bullying, harassment or other inappropriate conduct. Remember, as a youth, you have the right to:

– Be safe

– Be listened to

– Be respected and treated fairly

– Participate on an equitable basis

– Be believed

– Ask for help

Disciplinary Policies and Procedures

– Delegates and chaperones must respect the event curfew and be at their accommodations by 11:30PM.

– Zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use by delegates or chaperones.

– Zero tolerance for weapons and criminal activity of any kind.

– Smoking of tobacco and other products (including e-cigarettes) is prohibited on all premises. The exception to this policy is the cultural and ceremonial use of Indigenous traditional medicines such as tobacco, sage, cedar, and sweetgrass. The use of these MUST be approved by GOV team prior to use. *Offenders of the Code of Conduct will have all privileges suspended, along with their group, and will be asked to leave the event.*

Dance Party Rules

1) Youth under 18 years old will not be allowed in or allowed to leave without a chaperone.

2) Chaperones must arrive, stay and leave with their youth. Chaperones are required to attend with their youth in the standard 5:1 ratio.

3) There is no re-entry once the doors close promptly at 8:30pm. If one youth wants to leave, the entire group must leave. Chaperones must remain with their youth until the end of the dance or until the group decides to leave together.

4) Everyone will be searched prior to entry and required to check all bags, purses and coats. Sweaters and hats are permitted, but not recommended. No outside food or drinks. Water and snacks will be provided, as well as feminine products.

5) Zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use.

6) Offenders of these rules will not be permitted entrance and may be asked to leave the event.
